Another request to treat for scorpions this evening.  Spreading throughout the valley. 

Checked out a rodent issue in a home on Saturday.  Am amazed that their currnet pest management company didn't offer to help.  Rodents chewing through plastic water lines and destroying the ceiling due to water leaks.  Home owner did trap some of the rodents but, the issue stil continued.  Plumber fell through the ceiling in a damaged section.  Made easy access for me.  Just what we needed, a place for food and water smells to access the attic.  Placed bait around the opening.  We'll see what results we get.  Had the home owner pick up the pet food so that there's no easy access to food for the rodents.  They'll have to eat the bait or starve.

Serviced a new customer's property today for scorpions.  Another company said that there was nothing that could be  done about them.  Not the first time I've heard that.  It's a shame that some just don't take time or effort to learn.

Got another call for bees today.  They're nested in a sign above a store entry.  .

OH MY!  We've been getting several calls for new bee colonies!  Africanized bees are far more likely to swarm and find a new home in the winter than the other (Europian)  bees.  As the weather begins to warm they seek to expand their colonies and find new homes.  If you have bees clustered in a ball - swarm - give us a call.  The last call we got was that they are in a commercial sign.  The one yesterday was in a block wall surrounding a home entry.  Always potentially dangerous.

Got another bed bug call the other day. 

Typically starts with the question of how much does it cost?  Answer is that I don't know without taking a look at what we have to do. 

Next comment come something like this...'well, I tried spraying some stuff on them but, it didn't work.  Response:   what stuff?  What's the active ingredient?  where'd you spray it?  How much did you use?  Is that insect on the label?  Did you read the label? (it's law!)  Are you sure that it's bed bugs?  Where did you get your experience?

Answers go something like this (not necessarily in this order) ....no, no.,.I don't kow, didn't read it, somebody said....you guys do it so I figured that I could do it too!.......

O.K.  We have training.  We're licensed by the state dept of Agriculture.  We know the life cycle of the insect.  Those of us that are truly professionals know the active ingredients of  what we use, how to use it, where to use it - and safely by the way.   Just because a product has an insect listed on the label does not mean that it is effective for that insect.  It may kill the ones you hit directly but hitting them with a brick will do the same job - cheaper if that's what you're looking for. 

Recently reporeted 112 people posioned themselves trying to get rid of bedbugs.  Do you want to be number 113?

You can't do this!  The universities don't have the answers and they're in constant research.
